Help! The Relatives are Coming for Christmas
By Starley Cannon

Lots of things have come to pass already as we are nearing the end of another year.

The election occupied a lot of our time and thoughts with all of the serious issues on the ballot and our Military troops still not home but we all need to stay focus on what is for the good of our wonderful country. I, for one am so proud all of the Military troops, so faithfully defending our safety and freedom and I pray each and every one get to come home soon. Let us never forget what price freedom costs.

So the Relatives are coming for Christmas and as you look around you are taking a second look at your home thinking "Yikes, this house needs serious help -Call Extreme Make-over now"!   If this is what is going through your mind, why not try this instead of a complete make-over.

Give Familiar Furnishings a new look: Instead of tossing an old treasure, get it upholstered or disguise it with a slipcover. Slipcovering is less expensive than upholstering and may be the best way to go if the piece doesn't need reconstruction. Remember, slipcovers work on any piece of furniture, except those in leather or vinyl. The cover will slide around if it's on anything other than woven fabric.

Mix and Match: Look for common denominators. This will provide subtle links between pieces that, at first glance, don't match. For example, woods that are in the same color range are often compatible regardless of their style. Stick to one mood. The degree of formality is often the key. A pine farm table may go very well with casual contemporary chairs, but neither is likely to be compatible with more formal items.

Avoid overload. Don't overwhelm your room with too much. An overabundance of patterns and prints may create pandemonium. When in doubt, opt for stripes. They mix with almost anything and can link patterns. Fresh paint also works wonders for a new look and very inexpensive too.

But above all enjoy your relatives! Welcoming family and friends into your home is one of the greatest joys of the holiday season. It's an occasion for celebrating, making memories and sharing favorite foods and enjoying your loved ones but please don't forget the reason for the season, God's Gift of Love to The World.

I just want to remind you that the market is still good, lots of inventory to select from and a new home would make a great Christmas gift and we can help you with your shopping. So call your favorite Realtor and get started. We are all grateful to our past, present and future clients fro your business and we say a heartfelt "Thank You" and may God Bless you and yours.

Have a Blessed Christmas
