A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. If you gave to United Way of Hancock County, you've taken care of one New Year's Resolution already! You've made a commitment to change our community for the better. It's happening right now. At the very moment you are reading this article, your United Way investment is helping someone. In fact, your United Way investment is working around the clock. Here's a sample of the impact you are having all day long:

At 6:00 a.m. YOU assist a lower income gentleman who needs to exercise to lower his cholesterol.

At 7:00 a.m. A woman who just lost her hair from chemo is putting on a wig that YOU helped provide.

At 8:00 a.m. YOU take a formerly unemployed father to his new job.

At 9:00 a.m. YOU are teaching a young lady how to manage her finances.

At 10:00 a.m. YOU are providing a child a voice in the court during her parents' divorce.

At 11:00 a.m. A preschooler just sang a new song. YOU helped her learn it!

At 12:00 p.m. YOU feed a family of four who lost their home in a fire.

AT 1:00 p.m. YOU provide a cancer patient with a case of Ensure because his chemo treatments have diminished his appetite.
At 2:00 p.m. YOU are helping a group of H.A.P.P.Y. teens yell out their cheers at an elementary school assembly.

At 3:00 p.m. YOU teach a 5th grade boy how to tie a very special knot. He feels quite accomplished.

At 4:00 p.m.  YOU have just helped a troop of 10 Girl Scouts learn about their community government. One girl could be your future mayor!

At 5:00 p.m. YOU help a family find housing. It's safe and clean. They are moving in right now!

At 6:00 p.m.  YOU help a Mentor meet his "little", who he is taking to the driving range for some golf lessons.

At 7:00 p.m. YOU help a divorced couple exchange their children in a safe, neutral environment.

At 8:00 p.m.  A student is saying goodbye to his study mentor, after completing his homework in the computer lab that YOU helped pay for.

At 9:00 p.m. in the summer, 50 first through twelfth graders are singing around a campfire. YOU are there, too.

At 10:00 p.m. YOUR Hancock Area Transportation Services Program is transporting a third shift worker to his first day on the job.

At 11:00 p.m. YOU help a family earn interest on the money they were able to save through the Individual Development Account.

At midnight, YOU save a life with an emergency blood transfusion!

At 1:00 a.m. an Eagle Scout is lying awake reliving his Eagle Scout ceremony.  YOU helped him get there.

At 2:00 a.m. YOU are in the emergency room, counseling a woman who was just raped by a "friend."

At 3:00 a.m. YOU help a mother call her son who is in the Army to tell them about a family emergency

At 4:00 a.m. YOU are opening the doors to a woman and her baby, who are on the run from her abusive boyfriend.

At 5:00 a.m. an alarm clock is going off because YOU helped the Salvation Army pay her electric bill. She's going to work on time today.

That's quite a New Year's Resolution and the United Way says
"Thank You!"
