This fall, if you listen close, you will hear a growl coming from the Cube. No, its not a wild pack of dogs roaming wild, it's the newest hockey team that's been added to the United Junior Hockey League, the Findlay Grrrowl. The Grrrowl are owned and managed by former Toledo Storm Hockey Club associates Barry Soskin and Pat Pylypuik. They both have successfully managed the ECHL's Toledo Storm for over 10 years. They have committed themselves providing the Findlay area with the highest standards of hockey excellence and academic aptitude among its young players

The Grrrowl will be playing all home games at the Cube this season with the first home games slated for the weekend of October 18-19, the Grrrowl will have a full schedule evenly divided. The season will beginning on the road starting in September and will include rivals United Junior Hockey League rivals, Philadelphia Thunder, Wooster Oliers, Jamestown Jets, Penn Enforcers and Cleveland Harrow. "Findlay is a tremendous hockey town with Findlay High School and the FAHA (Findlay Area Hockey Association) organization fostering the love of hockey among the area's youth," said new coach Jeff Zunich, Zunich, who began his coaching career at Woodhaven High School, and has coached at the Compuware AAA Hockey organization for the last 5 years.
The organization has wasted no time in preparation for the upcoming season. The team has filled the roster with players, a mix of area junior hockey players and local high school athletes that are excited to get the puck rolling. The management has also filled important rolls in creating a team that is interactive with the community and focused on fostering our young people. Matthew Deighton has been hired as the club's new Assistant General Manager for the upcoming inaugural season. "Matt is a great addition to the organization. What he brings, with his background and his experience, I think he will be an asset for us," team consultant and former Toledo Storm promotional director Lonnie Nitschke, said. Deighton joins the Grrrowl management team and will assist with connecting the team to the community and developing valuable partnerships with the city and surrounding area. He will also be involved with heading the team's marketing and promotional plans, acting as the team's media liaison and overseeing game day operations.

With the opportunity to experience great hockey in our own city, in a great ice arena, this season will add entertainment value for local families to share and enjoy for many seasons to come. For more information on the Findlay Grrrowl, you can contact Matt Deighton or Coach Zunich at 419-930-1067, or go to www.findlaygrrrowl.com for team information and scheduled game dates.
