Main Street Deli

Main Street Deli is a venerable downtown Findlay institution, in part due to its unique décor; but the main reason diners flock to the restaurant is the food: It's traditional delicious deli and it's plentiful.

The eclectic mix of local artists' paintings, on everything from the ceiling to the furniture gives a unique environment for diners to enjoy their food. One patron describes Main Street Deli as "stepping into a historic art gallery."  There is much to see, even better stuff to taste, and all at a very affordable price.

According to owner Elaine Bruggeman, the most popular item is the Secretary Special, however anything you try is sure to please.   Offerings include many items with "local flavor" - the Main Street Bomber, at only $4.95, lets you  enjoy Ham, bologna, salami, American & Swiss cheese, onions and Italian dressing on a sub roll, or The Marathon which is Hot roast beef and corned beef with Swiss cheese and Thousand Island Dressing. There's also The Banker's Deluxe, Executive Choice, Legal Eagle as well as many others and they all come with chips and the customary tasty Kosher Dill.  Be sure to sample from the vast selections of salads, soups, sides, croissants, and desserts….Whatever you order, the service is always fast and friendly.

Bruggeman came to Findlay while completing her degree at BGSU, and worked part time in the deli.  Just a year later, in 1994, she bought the restaurant and has been there every day since.  The secret of her success isn't just the great food, according to Elaine. Her staff is exemplary, and "of course, the customers," are wonderful, too.

Something you may not know about Main Street Deli: they deliver anywhere in Findlay.   Good to be familiar with if you're too busy to make the trip, but still have a craving for delectable Main Street Deli food.  Also, Elaine bakes all the bread herself; not just the sandwich breads, but every mouth-watering baked good that tempts your senses as soon as you step in the door.

Main Street Deli is located at 513 S. Main, Findlay.  Their phone number is 419-425-3354; orders can be faxed to 419-425-5494.  Business hours are Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 7:00a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Menu available online at www.findlayliving.com/bm/listings/l0019.html
