TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, TIFFIN, OHIO-Tiffin University President Paul Marion will officially welcome new students from Canada, United Kingdom, China, Nigeria, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas and Romania during the university's Annual World Student Association's International Flag Ceremony on Thursday, September 15, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The presentation will take place in the Osceola Theatre in the Gillmor Student Center.
International students new to Tiffin University will present their countries' flags to President Marion and returning international students will celebrate their reunion.
This year's ceremony will feature the rededication of our past and present flags, introduce four new countries to the vast collection, and celebrate unity all over the world. A special performance by the Tiffin University Choir and reception will follow immediately in the lobby of Franks Hall.
New students on campus this year include Mike Bonanno and Jennifer Trow from Canada, Ioan Harmut and Bogdan Vlad from Romania, Cindy Hemlee from Trinidad and Tobago, Aerilla McKinney from the Bahamas, Teadore Denev from Bulgaria, Anthony Iyai from Nigeria, Linh Lahn from Vietnam, and Tiannon Li, Gang Wu, Yishuo Chen, Lingjin Zhan, Xiaolei Liang, Zhan Xiao, and Ao Wang all from China.
Cultural exchange between all students, faculty, staff and the community at large continues to flourish through the activities of the World Student Association.
Activities include international fashion shows, a community dinner offering native foods and entertainment, sponsoring of Diversity Week, and the co-sponsoring of social activities on campus. The WSA and the International Student Affairs office foster cultural growth and diversity on campus and awareness of international student concerns with the community.
