2007 Hancock County Music Festival
Honors Band and Choir

When band and choir members from the Hancock County High Schools gather, they make beautiful music together. On Sunday, February 18 Hancock County Honors Band and Hancock County Honors Choir students from Arlington, Arcadia, Liberty-Benton, McComb, Riverdale, Van Buren, Vanlue and Cory-Rawson performed for the community at McComb High School.

Heavrin Receives Scouting’s Highest Rank

Chandler Heavrin a junior attending Arlington High School and a member of Troop 318 has recently completed all of the stringent requirements to receive the rank of Eagle Scout. He was awarded the rank at a special recognition ceremony at Good Hope Lutheran Church on December 4, 2006 in Arlington.

It is so tempting for me, personally to sit around and refuse to get nothing accomplished. I have to work hard to remain active, find activities to participate in and enjoy them. Blogging
Harmless fun or hidden danger?

Blogging has become incredibly popular with young adults. I surveyed 158 of our high-school students and 71% had a blog, compared to 29% without. Many students also had multiple blogs, but the most popular is MySpace according to my survey.

Eating Disorders: Not Just Among Celebrities

Eating disorders are not just the lack of consuming food.  It is a mental illness as well.  Girls and boys between the ages of 12-35 are the most prone to suffer from eating disorders.  It is not as common in boys, but there are some who suffer.

Hancock Youth Leadership

Hancock Youth Leadership (HYL) is a very prestigious program for juniors in high school in Hancock County. To be accepted into HYL, you must complete an application and send it to the Hancock County Chamber of Commerce. After the applications are sent to the Chamber, they have a committee select the applications of those students they feel are best qualified for the program.

A big controversy over whether myspace is safe or not has been sweeping the nation recently, upsetting teens everywhere.  This uproar of arguments causes many people to question whether myspace is really safe or not.  Myspace is a webpage that allows you to subscribe to it and make your own page.  On this page you can give any detail you want to give, your name, where you live, your email address, anything you want someone to know about you, they will.

The Guardian

The Guardian is one of the best films I have seen this year. It would be an inspirational film to many due to the fact that it shows determination and hard work.  I would recommend this film to teens, adult, couples, and even those who are not or have never been interested in the Coast Guard.
