Meet Oscar Velasquez
By Findlay Living Magazine

Though, Oscar has accomplished a lot artistically in his life such as being listed in the Whos Who in American Art, he has other ambitions such as playing guitar and teaching. He enjoys sharing his gifts and instructing the younger generations. He hopes he can improve their self-worth.He has taught art in schools throughout the Hancock County area. Oscar was a part of Findlay City Schools? Smartworks program. He has also worked with migrant workers? children. While Oscar Velasquez deals with all aspects of painting (i.e. oils, water, acrylics?), he has worked with kids in constructing large, cardboard airplanes and boats as a means of helping them understand that art is a multi-faceted form of expression.

Oscar Velasquez has established an enduring legacy with his murals and many other ambitions. And he offers this advice to those fledgling artists wanting to pick a paintbrush. It is best to paint many simple scenes before working on that "masterpiece." Thanks Mr. Velasquez for all your talents and efforts and may your art and values continue to inspire the residents of Findlay and the surround areas for generations to come.
