Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been one of the most highly anticipated games for the Wii since the system was released. Everyone seems to have had major hopes for this game since the previous Smash Bros. games were so popular. I can honestly say that Brawl meets the expectations that everyone has had and moves the series to a whole new level.

For anyone who is not familiar with the Smash Bros. series, the games more or less allow you to have crazy battles between popular video game characters (normally Nintendo characters, however with this new addition to the series, Sonic has now been added). While there are several new characters and stages in this game, these are not the only new additions, in fact several new aspects have been added. One of the interesting new features of this game is the stage builder which allows you to create your very own stages to battle on.

Another fun thing to play with is the events mode, which gives you different goals to complete while being attacked by different enemies. For instance, in one of the events you play as Bowser and must race against three Mario characters to a flag as they try and beat you up. The new adventure mode is also a fun innovation which allows players to travel through an actual story which is much longer than a traditional fighting game’s story and will probably take several hours to complete. While the story might not be extremely engaging, the game play is pretty fun nonetheless.

Something else which is actually very useful has been added, and that is the ability to hold an actual tournament with up to 32 players. Finally, the biggest innovation which truly makes this game is the fact that you are no longer limited to playing with people who are sitting right beside you; you can play against anyone online which is a whole lot of fun and makes this one of the best games on the Wii period. My only real problem with this game is that the Wii-mote is pretty awkward to try and use. This problem is easily remedied though as long as you plug in a GameCube controller or a classic controller and just play with that instead.

Other than that, there really isn’t much else to say bad about this game. It’s a lot of fun, just like its predecessors and without a shadow of a doubt is one of the best games on the Wii. If you own a Wii you should definitely pick this game up as fast as you can.
